JPRS Expands CO.JP Eligibility Coverage

- To Apply a New Form of Japanese Company Newly Defined in Corporate Law of Japan -

JPRS will modify JP Domain Name regisrtration services, expanding CO.JP eligibility coverage to include a new form of Japanese company, "Godo Gaisya" which is defined in the new Japanese Corporate Law. The new service will become effective on May 1, 2006, in line with enforcement of the law on the same date.

Along with the inclusion, all Japanese incorporated companies under the new law will be eligible to apply for a CO.JP domain name.

As of April 2006, 96.6% of the companies listed on the Japanese first section markets have registered CO.JP domain names (Research by JPRS). Besides, result of Web interactive survey conducted in December 2005 showed that 62.2% of the companies which registered domain names chose CO.JP for their primary website. Based on these facts, JPRS understands the image "CO.JP is the domain name to represent Japanese company" is well established.

Therefore, by adjusting the registration services in response to ever-changing business environment including legislation, JPRS has committed itself to serve the vitalization of business activities in Japan from the side of Internet infrastructure. This time's service modification forms part of the commitment.
